    INTRODUCTION

The Western Society of Malacologists (WSM) was born in 1948, as the Pacific Division of the American Malacological Union (AMU), now American Malacological Society (AMS). The WSM was established in 1968 as an independent society for the furtherance of research in Malacology. The membership consists of professionals, amateurs, and students. The WSM holds an annual meeting each year.

The 2004 Conference of the Western Society of Malacologists will take place at the Riviera Pacific Convention Center. Known as the "Cinderella of the Pacific", Ensenada is located 70 miles south of the International border, to 90 minutes drive from San Diego. Its warm Mediterranean climate, friendly atmosphere and accessibility by land, air, and sea have made Ensenada a favorite tourist destination for many years.

The organization encourages established scientists, students, and amateurs interested in malacology to attend the WSM conference and at the same time to enjoy the hospitality and culture of the Ensenada, Baja California before or after the event.

Bienvenidos!!! Welcome to Ensenada, Baja California, México, LIVE IT!!!
